My Best and Worst Crochet Patterns
I love all my crochet patterns! Check out the list below to see which ones were YOUR favorites!

Crochet Pattern Round-up Notes
I’ve made more than 100 crochet patterns over the years. Some have done well, and some… have not. There are some that I thought would do AMAZING, but absolutely flopped. The opposite is also true! Some patterns I released, hoping they’d do well, but expecting just ok and they just took off!
I thought you might like to peek at some of my best and worst crochet patterns – we could call them my flip-flops. The lists are below, with links to the full free patterns! Honorable mention, of course, goes to my One-Hour No-Sew Turtle – the pattern I spent SO long on, and expected it to take off – but it went CRAZY! It’s still my number one pattern, nearly three years later.
All of the links in the list below lead you to the full FREE pattern on my website. However, if you prefer a printable copy, you can find purchase PDF versions of all these patterns on my website storefront.

Patterns I Thought Would Do Well
Superhero Doll
This cute plush superhero crochet doll is the remake of my original worsted-weight superhero from almost TEN years ago! This crochet plush superhero crochet pattern is just the cutest. The cape is removable for extra fun play, and the mask is attached using hot glue (you can sew it on, but it’s easier to glue!). I would say this is more of an intermediate pattern, but I do think a brave or advanced beginner could try it! I do share a few video tutorials that will help you!

Lion Mix & Make
This is one of my Mix & Make patterns, because you can mix up the body and make something completely different! There are three different bodies for one head, so if you don’t love the snuggler version you can also make it in a Long-Legged Stuffy Version, or in the fun Chubby Standing Body!

Squishy Swaddle
I love this tiny squishy swaddle. It’s perfect for customizing with any of my Squishy Collection. There’s just something about a little tiny stuffed animal in a blanket that is every little kid’s dream. I even made a C2C tutorial to go with it – because I know so many of you are amigurumi lovers, or even just amigurumi-only makers!

Triceratops Snuggler
This is one of my Mix & Make patterns, because you can mix up the body and make something completely different! The Long-Legged Stuffy version of this cutie triceratops snuggler did really well! But just look at that face… can you even handle it?!

Unicorn Mix & Make
This is one of my Mix & Make patterns, because you can mix up the body and make something completely different! There are three different bodies for one head, so if you don’t love the snuggler version you can also make it in a Long-Legged Stuffy Version, or in the fun Chubby Standing Body! I thought this one would take off better because we had a big C-A-L to celebrate its release. But I still love this sweet little set!

Patterns That Actually Took Off
The Friendly Mushroom
I didn’t know how much everyone needed a free crochet mushroom pattern in their life- until I made this little Fun Guy! There is something incredibly whimsical about these little guys. Plus, with the different combinations of types of yarn and colors, each one you make is so unique!

The Plush Mermaid
A mermaid crochet pattern was actually one of my very first that I shared, about 8 years ago. Crazy how time flies! This is based on that, but adjusted to the bulkier yarn. The fun thing, is that even though it takes less stitches, they work up about the same size! I think the big draw to this mermaid is that the color and personality possibilities are endless!

Squishy Hippo
The Squishy Hippo was one of those crochet patterns that I just worked up out of the blue in one sitting! I loved him, and I hoped that you would love him, too, but I never expected it to be loved so completely! Designed to work up quickly with blanket yarn, he’s part of my popular “Squishy” series, which also includes the Squishy Axolotl and Squishy Platypus patterns (other big hits!).

Plush Capybara
I’m absolutely in love with Clara the Capybara! I was stunned by how much you love her too! Her cutest little flower and chubby body are just the absolute best. I released right as capybaras started “trending”, and I think the combo of her irresistible face and algorithm magic just made her take off!

Moose Snuggler
I thought I would do something fun to help choose the top crochet pattern from 2025. We had several rounds of voting over December, and I let all of you choose your favorite pattern of the year. It was so much fun! The Moose Snuggler came out on top! I was never very good at brackets, and this time around was no different. I could not have predicted the win of the moose snuggler, but there ya go!
