Llama Crochet Pattern – Around the World
This plush llama crochet pattern is part of my Around the World adventure! The yarn makes it a snuggly plush amigurumi project.
Llama Crochet Amigurumi Pattern Notes
This plush llama crochet pattern is extra cuddly but works up so quickly compared to “traditional” yarn. It sits about 9-12 inches tall with a simple, but cuddly, chubby body!
This is one of the patterns from our journey Around the World in South America- our second stop! This is a trip we are taking together- all without leaving our homes. I do love traveling, but real life gets in the way. Each continent we go to will have 3-4 (but maybe more!) patterns. Once they’re all released, we’ll head to a new stop.
I used Premier Basix Chenille for this pattern- one of my favorites! But you can sub a different yarn if you would like. Just keep in mind that different types of yarn, even if they say they are the same size, work up differently.

Free Crochet Llama Stuffy Pattern Materials
To get started making this free llama crochet pattern, you’ll want to gather all your materials first.
You will need:
- You will need:
- 140g Premier Little Bunny
- 15g Premier Parfait Chunky
- small amount 3 different colors of worsted weight yarn (Color A, B, C for poncho)
- small amount black worsted weight yarn for the nose
- Stuffing
- 12mm safety eyes
- 5mm crochet hook (or size that keeps stitches tight and feels comfortable)
- 4mm hook for worsted weight
- Needle
- Stitch marker

Notes:
This llama is the more traditional stuffy, with a defined body and adorably long arms and legs. This is a good-sized stuffy, when sitting it is about 9-12 inches tall (see yarn notes below). When you use the method found right here (my favorite way to attach plush yarn) the arms are movable!
You can use safety eyes or try out embroidered eyes so it would be safe for a baby/toddler.

YARN NOTES
I used three different types of yarn to make these llamas. Premier Yarn Little Bunny yarn in white and cream, and Parfait Chunky in almond butter and cream. I also used Bernat Pipsqueak in white. The Premier Yarn is more readily available, although you have to order through the site. I love the Pipsqueak, but colors tend to go in and out with availability. I have found it on Amazon before, and sometimes Walmart, and it’s always helpful to check out the Yarnspiration’s site for it.
I made the larger llama by holding the Parfait Chunky and Little Bunny (both in cream) together as I crocheted. I used a 6mm hook. “Doubling” up the yarn obviously made this bigger and would be a little tricky if you are a brand-new beginner. I also used Premier Basix Chenille in the Mama Made Mini’s collaboration color “Toast” for the nose and feet. In my opinion, the Basix Chenille is thicker than the fuzzy yarn, so if you are not using the two strands of Parfait and Little Bunny, the proportions would be off.
The larger llama measured about 12 inches tall. The smaller llamas were 9 inches at the top of their ears.
If you are using different types of yarn, it will look different. If you use a different yarn than I suggest here, make sure that the feet/nose accent color will work with the fuzzy yarn. You can also experiment with hook sizes. For example, if you are using a bulkier yarn for the feet, go down a hook size to make it tighter/smaller. Then, use a larger size hook for the fuzzy yarn. Keep in mind that adjusting your hook size too much one way or the other will also change the look and feel.
If you want to use a similarly colored worsted-weight yarn to sew on the Parfait Chunky pieces, you could! The same goes for the fuzzy yarn. I did not; I felt using the same type of yarn for each was fine. If that seems tricky, using worsted-weight yarn (size 4 or lower) could help out!

Llama Stuffy Crochet Pattern
Neck Strengtheners
In little bunny:
In a magic circle, SC 7. SC in each around for a total of 7 rows. Fasten off and leave a long tail. You will need this before you stuff the head.
Body/Head
In little bunny:
Round 1: In a magic circle, SC 8.
Round 2: SC INC in each around. (16)
Round 3: SC in the first, SC INC in the next. Repeat around. (24)
Round 4: SC in the first 2, SC INC in the next. Repeat around. (32)
Rounds 5-8: SC in each around. (32) *4 rounds*
Round 9: SC in the first 2, INV DEC in the next. Repeat around. (24)
Rounds 10-11: SC in each around. (24)
Begin to stuff here.
Round 12: SC in the first, INV DEC in the next. Repeat around. (16)
Round 13-14: SC in each around. (16)
Round 15: INV DEC in each around. (8)
Rounds 16-18: SC in each around. (8) *3 rounds*
Make sure you stuff as well as you can; it will be very hard to stuff the body from here on out.
Round 19: In the front loop only, SC INC in each around. (16)
Round 20: SC in the first, SC INC in the next. Repeat around. (24)
Round 21: SC in the first 2, SC INC in the next. Repeat around. (32)
Insert the neck strengthener here. Use worsted weight in a similar color to the body to sew in place.
Rounds 22-26: SC in each around. (32) *5 rounds*
Insert eyes between rounds 24-25.
Round 27: SC in the first 2, INV DEC in the next. Repeat around. (24)
Round 28: SC in each around. (24)
Begin to stuff the head here, and continue to stuff until you close.
Round 29: SC in the first, INV DEC in the next. Repeat around. (16)
Round 30: INV DEC in each around. (8)
Fasten off and weave in the end.
Nose:
Make in Parfait Chunky:
Round 1: In a magic circle, SC 6.
Round 2: SC INC in each around. (12)
Round 3: SC in the first, SC INC in the next. Repeat around. (18)
Round 4: SC in each around. (18)
Fasten off and leave a long tail to attach. Sew under the eyes, with the bottom of the nose around round 20, and the top around round 24. Embroider the “Y” on with embroidery floss or cotton thread.
Ears
Can be done in little bunny (right) or accent color (left):
Round 1: 8 HDC in a magic circle. Chain 1 and turn, do not attach. (8)
Round 2: HDC INC in the first 4 (total of 8 stitches) Chain 2. HDC INC in the remaining four. (16 HDC)
Pinch the bottom of the ear and sew a couple of times through the bottom to create the rounded shape. Sew each ear lined up with an eye, around rounds 28-29.
Arms (make 2)
Start with Parfait Chunky, leave unstuffed:
Round 1: In a magic circle, SC 8.
Rounds 2-3: SC in each around. (8)
Change to fuzzy yarn.
Rounds 4-12: SC in each around. (8)
Attach around rounds 15 and 16, at a slight angle down.
Legs (make 2)
Start with Parfait Chunky, leave unstuffed:
Round 1: In a magic circle, SC 10.
Rounds 2-4: SC in each around. (10)
Change to fuzzy yarn.
Rounds 5-14: SC in each around. (10)
Attach around rounds 6-7, facing straight out.
Poncho
For this poncho, you will use worsted-weight yarn and a 4mm hook. The color you begin with will be at the front of the poncho, or the first color. If you want to change colors like I did in the picture (below), I labeled where each change should be. I like to add the color to the end of each row, before I chain and turn. Color A
Chain 41. Turn.
Row 1: In the second chain from the hook, HDC. HDC 18 more times (a total of 19). Skip two of the chains and HDC in the remaining 19. Chain 1 and turn.
Color B
Row 2: HDC 18 times, skip two stitches, and HDC in the remaining 18.
Color C
Row 3: HDC 17 times, skip two stitches, and HDC in the remaining 17.
Row 4: HDC 16 times, skip two stitches, and HDC in the remaining 16.
Fasten off with a long tail.
Attach around the neck of your llama with the pointed end at the front. Sew the back up to straight edges. Weave in the ends.
NOTE: If you made the larger version by doubling up or used a different type of yarn, make sure the chains easily reach around the neck. You could size up a hook size if you need to.
Pom-Pom
I used the pink pom-pom maker in the set. Tie off the middle of the pom-pom with a long enough piece to tie around the head! https://amzn.to/4zqA1H0
Flowers
Using worsted weight yarn and 4mm hook:
Make a magic circle. *Chain 2, DC into the center. Chain 2 then slip stitch into the center. * repeat the * * for a total of five petals. Pull the magic circle closed. Fasten off.
Make 3 and use the tails to sew them on top of the head.
