Free Crochet Pattern Gold Medal

In honor of the Olympic games coming up (which I am RIDICULOUSLY
excited for!) I am sharing a free gold medal pattern! You can also make it in silver or bronze… But I am all about the gold!
This is a super quick project but holds up really well… Make it while watching the opening ceremonies, or gymnastics, or swimming… and have it ready to go by the time they award the medals and the national anthem is playing.
I used a size H hook (5.0) and Red Heart With Love in red, white, and blue, and Caron’s Simply Soft in Gold for the medal.

Here we go!

Row 1: With the red chain 101. Turn.
Row 2:In second chain from the hook HDC. HDC to the end. Attach white and turn. (100)
Row 3: HDC in each stitch across. Attach blue and turn. (100)
Row 4: HDC in each stitch across. Fasten off. (100)
Sew the ends together (make sure the “ribbon” is not twisted!)
Medal (Make 2)
Round: In a magic circle, add 12 DC. Slip stitch to first stitch. chain 2
Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch around. Slip stitch to first. Chain 2 (24)
Round 3: 2 DC in first, DC in next. Repeat around. Slip sitch to first. Fasten off. (36)
Slip stitch the two pieces together. (You can do only one, but the two together gives it more substance.)
Sew onto the ribbon part and there you go!
