Dress
To make the dress, chain to a length that will just barely reach around the body. Due to the variations of yarn, amount of stuffing, and which hook you use, it is really difficult to give an exact number. (As a starting point, I chained 35 with my 4.0 hook.) The amount of stitches will not affect the pattern. Just make sure it will go around the doll. Double check after a few rows that you can pull it up her body. Better to frog now than cry later!
(HINT: You could also do a foundation double crochet here.)
Chain to desired length. Slip stitch together to form a ring. Double check that you did not twist the chain.
Row 1: DC in each stitch across. Sl st to the first stitch.
Row 2-8: Chain 2. DC in the same stitch. DC in each across.
Row 9: DC INC in each stitch (this will start the ruffle.)
Row 10: *DC INC in the first, DC in the next.* Repeat * * to the end of the row.
For the Friendly Grace Doll:
Row 11-12: *DC INC in the first, DC in the next.* Repeat * * to the end of the row.
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Sew the dress sides together. Then put onto the doll.
Chain 30. Fasten off and weave in the tail on one side. Sew the other side to the front of the dress. Repeat for the other side. Tie the two chained pieces in a bow in the back.

If you are making the skirt to attach to the doll, it will be the same. Just use 2 rows of DC and then rows 10-12 as mentioned above. Sew onto the doll.

Flower crown
Headband: Chain to 50 (or long enough to reach around the head and tie.) Set aside.
Flower (make 5)
In a magic circle SC 5. Slip stitch to the first stitch. *Chain 5. Slip stitch in the same stitch. Slip stitch over the next.* Repeat * * 4 more times for a total of 5 petals. Fasten off and sew onto headband.

Flowers
In a magic circle, SC 10. Slip stitch to the first stitch. *Chain 2. DC INC in the same stitch. Slip stitch to the next stitch. Slip Stitch again to the next stitch.* Repeat * * for a total of 5 times, making 5 petals. Pull the magic circle tight and sew onto the bear.

Hair Bow
Chain to 20
DC in each chain across (20).
Repeat for a total of 4 rows.
Sew the edges together, fasten off leaving a long tail. Wrap the length of yarn around the middle and tie together.

Laces
Chain 40. Cut the yarn leaving a long tail to sew on. Fasten off the loose side. Place the middle of the lace under the doll’s leg, about 10 rows above the slipper. Bring each edge around to either side, crossing in the middle. Using the long tail, sew it on. I place a few stitches where it attaches on the bottom, the cross section, and in the back. Weave in the ends in the slipper part. Pull tightly and cut the yarn. Repeat for the other side.
