Double Crochet Beanie Hat with Earflaps

Make sure you use the correct hook size! 

Size 9-12 month
Use 5.0 (H) hook 
Row 1: 10 DC in a magic ring, join to first DC. Chain 2
Row 2: 2 DC in each around, join. Chain 2 (20 DC)
Row 3: 2 DC in first, DC in next, repeat around, join. Chain 2. (30 DC)
Row 4: 2 DC in first, DC in next 2, repeat around, join. Chain 2. (40 DC)
Row 5: 2 DC in first, DC in next 3, repeat around, join. Chain 2. (50 DC)
Row 6-13: DC in each around. Chain 2. (50 DC)

Size: Toddler (Fits most 12 month -3 years at 19″)
5.0 (H) hook
Row 1: 10 DC in a magic ring, join to first DC. Chain 2
Row 2: 2 DC in each around, join. Chain 2 (20 DC)
Row 3: 2 DC in first, DC in next, repeat around, join. Chain 2. (30 DC)
Row 4: 2 DC in first, DC in next 2, repeat around, join. Chain 2. (40 DC)
Row 5: 2 DC in first, DC in next 3, repeat around, join. Chain 2. (50 DC)

5.0 (H) hook for younger child (ages 3-8), 5.5 (I) hook (for ages 8-13)

Size: Teen/Adult (24″)
5.0 hook
Row 1: 12 DC in a magic ring, join to first DC. Chain 2
Row 2: 2 DC in each around, join. Chain 2 (24 DC)
Row 3: 2 DC in first, DC in next, repeat around, join. Chain 2. (36 DC)
Row 4: 2 DC in first, DC in next 2, repeat around, join. Chain 2. (48 DC)
Row 5: 2 DC in first, DC in next 7, repeat around, join. Chain 2. (54 DC)
Row 6: 2 DC in first, DC in next 8, repeat around, join. Chain 2 (66 DC)
Row 7-16: DC in each around. (66 DC)

Earflaps
(I attach mine right below the seam of the hat, or where I connect the
last stitch. Then match the next earflap so that are farther back than
the middle. When you “open” the hat the ear flaps will be slightly
folded on the end. See video to see how I make mine!)

Row 1: DC in next 10, chain 2, turn
Row 2: Decrease DC, DC in next 6, Decrease DC (8)
Row 3: Decrease DC, DC in next 4, Decrease DC (6)
Row 4: Decrease DC, DC in next 2, Decrease DC (4)
Row 5:  Decrease DC, DC in next (2)

Size: Child, Teen/Adult
Row 1: DC in next 12, chain 2, turn
Row 2: Decrease DC, DC in next 8, Decrease DC (10)
Row 3: Decrease DC, DC in next 6, Decrease DC (8)
Row 4: Decrease DC, DC in next 4, Decrease DC (6)
Row 5:  Decrease DC, DC in next 2, Decrease DC (4)
Row 6: Decrease DC, Decrease DC, Fasten off. (2)

Crochet around the entire base. I usually HDC around the ear flaps and SC around the rest.
